Health Impact of Physical Activity

  • Associated with lower death rates for adults at all ages
  • Decreases death risk from heart disease, diabetes, colon cancer
  • Prevents high blood pressure and reduces blood pressure in people in which blood pressure is elevated
  • Increases muscle/bone strength & decreases body fat
  • Enhances psychological well being and may reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety
  • Promotes normal skeletal development in children & adolescents
