Biological Hazards Part II: Transmission-Based Protection Against Other Infectious Agents

  • Implement standard precautions and add additional isolation precautions as needed:
    • Droplet isolation for patients with infections transmitted through respiratory droplets
    • Airborne isolation for patients with infections transmitted through airborne droplet nuclei
    • Contact isolation for patients with infections transmitted via direct contact with intact skin or patient’s environment
