BBF Exposure Management

  • Not ever “do it yourself”
    • Only Employee Occupational Health, Occupational Health, Employee Health at VA, Emergency Departments and Student Health are qualified to handle exposures
  • Decisions regarding HIV prophylaxis must be made within two hours of exposure
  • Workman’s Compensation requires reporting of all injuries within two weeks
    • Review Resident handbook
    • Call Risk Management or Employee Occupational Health if you are exposed at another facility
  • Trainees and students must be released immediately to seek care
