More Tips to Prevent Sharps Injuries

  • Keep fingers behind needle tip and always use instruments when suturing
  • Locate the sharps container prior to procedure
  • Check that the sharps container is not overfull before starting the procedure (no more than ¾ full)
    • If full, close container and obtain new empty container
