Tips to Prevent Sharps Injuries

  • Never recap
    • Get extra equipment as needed before starting procedure
    • If recapping is absolutely necessary, use a recapping device
  • Never stick needles in the mattress
  • Dispose of all sharps promptly in the sharps container
    • Don’t let needles get hidden under wrappings
  • Never tamper with safety devices
