What Are Bloodborne Pathogens?

  • Organisms which may be transmitted through percutaneous or mucous membrane contact with blood or OPIM
  • The most common bloodborne pathogens in clinical practice are the viruses HIV, HBV (Hepatitis B), and HCV (Hepatitis C)
