Dosimeter care and use

Proper dosimeter care and use involves:

• Wearing the assigned individual monitoring device(s) at all times while using RAM.
• Wearing ring badges on the dominant hand underneath the gloves and with the label portion facing the source of radiation.
• Storing badges away from radiation sources when not in use to prevent deceptive doses.
• Contacting UNM Radiation Safety right away if a dosimeter becomes contaminated or goes missing.
• Leaving area monitors from their assigned location(s).
• Failure to abide by these guidelines can cause a “deceptive dose” that is against the law!
