- Different forms of ionizing radiation, their unique properties, and how they are produced
- Terminology and units for measuring activity and dose
- Criteria and methods for personnel dosimetry with individual monitoring devices
- Control of licensed sources of ionizing radiation from procurement to final disposal
- Specific precautions for minimizing radiological hazards in the laboratory
- Emergency response for unintended releases of, or exposures to, radioactive material
