TB Cases Seen at UNMH

  • Although TB cases are decreasing overall in New Mexico, UNM still sees 15-20% of the total cases (8 cases in year 2004)
  • Many cases seen at UNM are
    • Patients referred for chronic symptoms due to unusual manifestations of TB and the diagnosis has not been considered:
      • Laryngeal TB, pelvic TB, abdominal TB, Pott’s disease
  • Patients admitted for trauma with concurrent TB
