Common diseases spread by the airborne route include:

  • Tuberculosis
  • Varicella-be immune
  • Measles-be immune
  • Disseminated varicella (herpes zoster of more than one dermatome) in immunocompromised hosts: All such patients are placed in negative airflow pending chest X-ray and 24 hours of therapy with antivirals
