Stay on Usual Day-Night Cycle

  • Single night shift per week stay awake for 36 hours, do not do anything important after 24 hours
    • Advantage: preserves cycle
    • Disadvantages: really painful (guess which day you will have your MI?), disrupts next day's sleep, requires you to hurt every week
  • Do short runs of nights: 2 to 4 days
    • Advantages: little cycle shift, maximum of 24 hours without sleep,
less frequent than single night system
    • Disadvantages: some cycle shift socially disruptive
