Fire Plan

  • Respond to a fire using the RACE protocol
    • Rescue:
      • Move patients in immediate danger of fire first, then remaining patients
      • Move patients down hall through at least one set of fire and smoke doors (horizontal evacuation)
      • Fire department oversees vertical evacuation
    • Alert: Pull handle on a pull station, dial 45 for UNM hospital
    • Confine: Close doors
    • Extinguish:
      • Use extinguishers only on small fires
      • Pull, aim, squeeze and sweep
