How HCWs Can Prevent TB Exposure:

  • Maintain awareness of pulmonary and extra-pulmonary manifestations of TB
  • Obtain yearly tuberculin skin tests and follow up on conversions:
    • Highest risk of developing active TB is within two years of skin test conversion
    • Maintain high index of suspicion of tuberculosis in at-risk patients
