EMTALA Requirements

  1. Medical Screening Exam
    • “Hospital that has an ED, must provide for an appropriate Medical Screening Exam with the capability of the Hospital’s ED, including ancillary services, to determine whether or not an emergency condition exists”
  2. Record Keeping
    • A central hospital log must be kept
