What is a Major Spill?

• Involves unplanned skin contamination or radiation exposure to a worker, NM patient, or member of the public.
• Involves radioactive material inside the body of a worker or a member of the public.
• Intake means a certain amount of RAM enters the body through inhalation, ingestion, skin absorption, or by way of a wound.
• Uptake means RAM is absorbed by an organ or tissue.
